How do I estimate the time and cost needed to organize my space?

The total cost of your project, the number of sessions and the time spent for decluttering and reorganizing your desired space will depend on a variety of factors, such as:

  • Amount of things to sort through

  • Nature of content

  • Size and condition of the space

  • Timeframe for deciding on what to keep or toss

  • Number of interruptions (telephone, children, etc)

  • Amount of work you are willing and able to complete on your own time

  • Level of organization desired

  • Timeline and end goal

Here at Voilà! we are dedicated to providing personalized services to simplify people's lives by helping them declutter and get better organized. Most of us are not born organized,  but it's something we can learn and practise.

Who hires a professional organizer?

What is the hiring process?

Voilà!' s usual process is to start with a phone call that takes 10-15 minutes, during which we gather information to understand your situation.

Then, if appropriate, we will offer a free 30-minute consultation where we can see your environment, listen to your goals and understand your expectations on what you want your space to look and feel like. We will discuss options on how to proceed and packages that might work best for you. We can give you an idea of the steps needed to complete the project and an estimate of how long it may take. ( The estimate is not a guarantee due to the variety of factors.)

However, to give a fair estimate, we need to see your space. If you prefer, you can send us pictures and we can discuss it by phone, FaceTime or Skype.

If it feels like we are a good fit for you, Voilà! will send you the client agreement. After the signing, the fun starts! We'll begin working together, moving forward and completing your project.

What are Voilà!' s procedures and techniques?

At Voilà! each client is unique with his or her own needs and goals. When the time comes for decluttering and reorganizing a space, we always do it in the same, simplest way.

Step One: We sort through everything with you and help you make decisions on what is necessary or unnecessary, to keep or toss.

Step Two: Please do not panic! It is normal that a cluttered space usually gets worse before it gets better! At this point, everything might be out, grouped in different piles, ready to be reorganized in is right place. Rest assured, we will leave you with a functional room between sessions!

Step Three: We will reorganize all of your belongings in a strategic place to meet your needs and to create your desired space.

We will establish simple personalized systems that look great and work for YOU!

Do I have to be present during the sessions?

It depends on the task but generally it’s better for you to be around. We usually like to start with you, so we can gain insight into your challenges and requirements. We also need you for the first step. Although we offer guidance, only you can make the decision about what you want to keep or toss. Eventually, after the first step is completed, you being a part of the rest of the project is flexible. However, it is always a good idea for you to be around or be reachable. Reorganizing your space is personalized to you, therefore questions might come up, that only you can answer.

Does Voilà! work weekends?

Absolutely! And at no additional cost. We understand that many of our clients are working full time during the week and can devote only weekends to getting their space in order. So Voilà! is flexible to client's needs and will meet you for appointments on evenings and weekends to accommodate busy schedules!

Can I do the organizing by myself ?

For sure! If you'd like to do the work yourself but need guidance to get going, we would love to help you. We can offer you coaching to help you decide where to start and what steps to take to achieve your goals. We can give you manageable homework assignments and support to help you to stay motivated and focused until you complete your project.

 
 
 

Do I have to clean up before my appointment?

Please don't clean up before we come over. It is better if we can see your space in its natural state in order to help you most effectively. We need to see how you are living or working. That way, we can see your challenging areas and help you make changes from there. I understand that some people can feel ashamed or guilty of their clutter, but please don’t be. We are here to help you and support you during the process, not to judge.

 

Do I have to take "before and after" photos?

We may ask you to take photos of your space. It will help us to remember your areas when we prepare your customized action plan. It will also demonstrate all the progress we’ve made and serve as a great motivation. We may ask you for permission to use the photos. However, rest assured: we will only use your name or comments with your permission and approval.

 

What about confidentiality and ethics?

At all times, the professional organizers at Voilà! will respect confidentiality and only use client's information and/or pictures with their permission. Our practices always include the same professionalism and commitment to excellence. If we are unable or unqualified to fulfill your requests for services, we will make every effort to recommend the service of other qualified professionals.
